Tuerredda

Am I in the Caribbean islands?

This is what you will wonder if you go to beach of Tuerredda (the little tower) on the South cost of Sardinia and at only an hour drive from Cagliari.

One of my favorite: an amazing bay, crystal waters, clear sandy beach and a little Spanish tower overlooking it all.

There is a kiosk bar and some deckchair and parasol hiring facilities as well, even if [...] Continue Reading…

Oristano’s Sartiglia

06vestiz15.jpg Oristano’s Sartiglia is the best fair that I have ever seen. It is a medieval tournament where a masked, horse riding knight has to collect stars that are hanging in his way. The more stars he collects the better the year ahead will be. If you add that all this is done at breakneck speed and with lots of other horse riding exibitions on the side, tou’ll understand why is a very fascinating experience. In the full post you’ll find a detailed description, more pictures and some tips on where to stay. .

Traditions, beaches and ancient sites around Oristano

It only takes about an hour to drive from Cagliari to another not very well known but beautiful spot of Sardinia: the peninsula of Sinis, located in the Oristano Gulf on the west coast.

Last time I have been there I have visited one of the most fascinating archaeological and panoramic sites of Sardinia, Tharros.

I know you want me to tell you about Alghero…

Since I was a teenager Alghero was one of the top favourite places to go for my summer holidays, main reasons being its fabulous night life, good camping sites and lots of nice beaches nearby…(Le Bombarde was my favourite one).

But now that I am older and wiser…I like it even more. It is indeed a lovely town that has got so much to offer to people of all ages, [...] Continue Reading…

Which is the best part of Sardinia Manuela?

I have been asked this question so many times and here is my answer for you: Sardinia is all beautiful from north to south. Where you go depends on what you are looking for, but if you are looking for the unusual and the most authentic side of Sardinia, then you have to aim for its rocky heart.

From the villages of Oliena [...] Continue Reading…

Gems of the Gulf of Cagliari

How many times we hired a car in Sardinia and drove from Cagliari to Villasimius Luca? Many..but many times we did not even reach it..

There are too many others beautiful places in between.. the journey in itself is spectacular if you can relax and enjoy the views. ..as I normally do. Off course, if you are driving, you must focus on the many narrow bends up and down [...] Continue Reading…

Sailing around Carloforte

Last summer, for the first time, we hired a boat and went sailing.

As usual, at the end of this post some useful info and a link for driving directions, but now I would like to begin from the end of the story: at the end of our sailing weekend, my sister and her boyfriend, who is an experienced sailorman, asked me if everything was all right, it didn’t look [...] Continue Reading…
