Hi everybody, I would like to introduce a small paradise in Cagliari. Some pictures:
The area called Cala Mosca has few beaches, still has the fine white sand that use to be in all Poetto (Cagliari’s beach). Cala Mosca was never busy in the past, mostly due to the Military Bases that were just there, so the area was partly off limit. Another reason was the “popular “neighborhood nearby (we will talk about it in another post).
As soon as you arrive to the first beach of the bay (at the end of this article a link wit directions), you can park the car in front of the old base and go down few steps. This first spot is the only one with sand so nowadays it can get quite busy. Looking at the sea from the sandy beach you have on your right plenty of room to swim (I can assure the water is amazing); on your left there is a hotel with a restaurant, which is not actually very good to see, but if you go there at night to have dinner, they have a very nice terrazza overlooking the bay……
If, instead of parking there when you arrive you keep going, at the end of the road, you turn left, there’s a narrow road (pretty bad conditions) going towards the hill. Follow this road for five minutes even if it seems that is heading nowhere until you arrive at the end. Park the car where you can and go to the gate. Just passed this, on your right there’s a stairway that is actually the entrance of a bar, go down, pass the bar and keep going down. At the end you’ll be in a beautiful very small bay. Umbrellas and beds can be hired from the bar (think it’s about 15€ a day) or you can lay for free on you right. If you are planning to save some money remember to take one of those exercise mats because is pretty uncomfortable, no sand only rocks. But the water and the view it,s worth it. Then let me know!
During the day the bar/restaurant serves drinks and light meals. At night they have proper meals and music.
Warnings:
if you go there in the hottest hours (12 to 3 pm) is freaking hot, bring a cap, protective cream and plenty to drink.
I know that when you arrive there it seems like you are entering a private property, but don’t worry as far as you don’t use the bar you can stay.
If you need more info about Cala Mosca, just write to us.
Have fun.
Luca
